Today it seems like there are less organized systems in this MODIS image. Barbados is to the left of the snapshot (whose scale is about 400 by 500 km), in the satellite blind spot. In yesterday’s radar image there seems to be a transition away from more organized and deeper systems toward the end of the day, and the MODIS image suggests that it might hold up through tomorrow. The sounding shows a developing dry (very dry) layer and shear more characteristic of what we expect in the trades, with the dry layer coming in through the westerlies.
